DESCRIPTION

This heavy, gray-black cloak seems to absorb light, its interior lined with shifting shadows. The wearer gains concealment (20% miss chance) in areas of dim light or darker.

Once per day, the wearer may activate the cloak to become invisible (as greater invisibility, CL 9th) for up to 9 rounds. While this ability is active, the wearer leaves behind faint afterimages that move independently, granting a +4 bonus on Hide checks.

However, each time the cloak’s invisibility is used, the wearer must succeed on a DC 16 Will save or become partially detached from reality, taking a –2 penalty on attack rolls and skill checks for 10 minutes as their sense of self flickers.

LORE

The Cloak of the Hollow Veil is believed to have been woven from funeral shrouds taken from graves that had no visitors. It carries with it the quiet, terrible absence of those who were forgotten entirely.

Wearers often report a chilling sensation - not of being unseen, but of no longer being there at all. Shadows seem slower to return, reflections lag behind, and voices sound distant, as though spoken from another room.

In Ravenloft, the cloak is most often found in abandoned manors or among the possessions of those who vanished without explanation, leaving only rumors and unanswered questions behind.

The Nieliah Talisman

This magical talisman is created by  Pépin Rey  and serves as a direct connection to the benevolent loa known as  Nieliah . Three times per day the user can call upon the loa, and when they do so a 40' area (focused on the talisman) is covered in a glowing pale blue fog that appears to look like rushing water without ever diminishing in volume.
